Willie Mae Sidberry Green of the Harrison Creek Community, Rocky Point, North Carolina, was born October 16, 1933, to Moton and Pettie Ann Sidberry. She entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Willie Mae attended Pender County Training School. As soon as she could, she entered the workforce. Her first job was with Block Shirt Factory in Wilmington, North Carolina. The second job was with Singer, also in Wilmington, North Carolina where she remained for over twenty-two years until she retired. Willie Mae enjoyed her off time gardening. She was well known for her okra and collards. Her love of fishing was also known by many of her family members who came home for the fresh fish and meats unavailable to them in the north. Willie Mae accepted Christ at an early age at Island Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Rocky Point, North Carolina. Her passion for ushering led her to chief usher until her health declined. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Angelyn; granddaughter, Angel; son-in-law, Rodney Lee; stepdaughter, Brenda Bryant; son-in-law, Roy Bryant; two siblings, Frances Cromartie of Wilmington, NC and Lenora Dixon of Jamica Queens, New York; goddaughter, Yvonne Sidberry; special additional caregiver, Beverly Carr; a beloved cousin, Tricia Ann Marshall; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
