Willie James (AKA: Monkey Ross) Pearson, the son of Melvena Ross and Mac Bellamy (deceased) was born July 4,1961, in Darlington SC. His journey of life ended for Willie on Saturday, January 3, 2026. He was preceded in death by his "lifetime" dad, Leon Ross, Sr., and his son Willie Duane Davis. His younger years were spent in Wilmington, NC and Germany, where he attended elementary and middle school while also playing basketball. While in Germany, he learned to bowl. He loved, and excelled at both sports, basketball and bowling. In 1975, the family moved back to Wilmington and made it their permanent home. As the oldest brother, cousin and grandchild, Willie was always in charge when the adults weren't around; he always looked out for the others. In 1980, Monkey Ross, as he was known, graduated from New Hanover High School, where he was a member of the basketball team. During that time, he met and dated Karen Billingsley, in 1981 they had a daughter, his first child. Later, he married Patricia Davis and from this union he became a dad to 4 children. Willie loved his children and they all loved him; their home and hearts were open to many children. He loved being known all through town as "Unk" and "Uncle Willie". Willie worked various jobs over the years which many would consider "great jobs"; however, he never liked any of them. There was actually one job he worked while living in Fayetteville that he spoke of often. However, it wasn't the job he liked, it was the people he really grew close to and talked about often. Willie's greatest job and the one he enjoyed most was being a GRANDADDY to his 10 grandchildren. They were his peace, his joy and happiness to the end. He especially enjoyed the baby of the bunch. Family was important to him, including those friends he considered family. He had a lot of friends and acquaintances. If he liked you, you knew it. If he didn't like you, you definitely knew that. He came from a large family (the Pearson's and Ross's) and then married into a large family (the Davis's). Over the years, the bond he had with all his family has stood the test of time to the end. He was LOVED by many and will be missed by many.
