Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at First Baptist Church Scotts Hill.  Burial will follow in the Pollock Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at First Baptist Church Scotts Hill. Willie Mae Mattocks was born on August 21, 1929, to the late Theodore Pridgen and Leanora Pridgen.  God called her home on February 19, 2024.  Willie Mae was a custodian at Camp LeJeune for 23 years until she retired.  You could always find her in her yard with her plants she planted, and was affectionately known as the "Greenthumb", of the family or you could find her on her porch sipping on her favorite soda, Mountain Dew.  Saying she loved her family would be an understatement.  Even though her sister passed nearly 4 years ago, she became the mother of her sister's children.  She was the Mother of First Baptist Scotts Hills Church and the Historian of the Scotts Hill Community.  She was a Deaconess of First Baptist, as well as a Trustee and Treasurer for over 40 years.  She was President of the Senior Choir until her health began to fail.  She was a member of the Eastern Star Love Union Chapter 551.  Her motto was, "Now I'm going to say this": -No one can deny, she was a faithful member of her church, and that she loved the Lord.  Willie Mae married the love of her life, Leslie Mattocks.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Mattocks, her sister Christabelle Green, and her brother-in-law, James Green.  She leaves to cherish her precious memories:  Three devoted nieces:  Delphine Green, Sonja (William) Marshall, Patricia (Hayes) Corbett;  Nephew: James (Vivian) Green; four devoted grandnieces:  Artisha (Victor) Darton, Jasmine Moore, Andrea Corbett, Alisa Corbett; four great-grand nieces: Jamae, Brooklyn, Addison, Janae; two great great nephews: Jase, JaLeeon; three special cousins: Tony (Daniell) Fruits, Cheryl Fruits, Zar; special friends: Rev. Russell (Joyce) Nixon, Wilhelmina Garrison, Barbara Braggs, Deacon Arnold Brown, Maeola Murray, Lola Williams, Doug, Mamie Carlos, Annie Lou Mitchell, Diana Vereen, Louise Williams, Deidra Hairston, Clara Miller, Jackie Hardison, LeRon Montgomery, Mychal Robinson, Rev. Daniel Green, Cynthia McIntyre, Helen McCrary.  A special thank you to the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Hospice, Liberty Commons Caregivers, Lacey, Julie, Latae, and Physical Therapy Department, and a host of friends.
