Willie Mae Vaught was born November 15, 1955, to the late Gladys Montalvo and the late Lawrence Marshburn. She departed this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Willie Mae was educated in the New Hanover County public schools and proudly graduated from Williston High School. She went on to build a dedicated career at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where she faithfully served for more than thirty years before her well-earned retirement. She was united in marriage to David Russell Vaught, with whom she shared a devoted and enduring partnership. Together they built a life grounded in love, family, and faith. Willie Mae attended Warner Temple A.M.E. Zion Church. Though her health prevented her from being as active as she desired, her faith remained steadfast and strong. She will be remembered for her contagious personality, her love of life, and her selfless spirit. Willie Mae was fun-loving, kind, and always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and a faithful friend whose presence touched all who knew her. Her legacy of love, joy, and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband David Vaught, of the home; daughters: Kenya Keaton-Simpkins of Wilmington, NC; Tiffanie Keaton, of the home; grandchildren: Kayla Simpkins, Elias Lacewell, and Gabriel Lacewell all of Wilmington, NC; sister: Shema Joye of Wilmington, NC; brother: Darryl Lennon; brother-in-law: Leroy (Joann) Vaught, Jr. of Winnabow, NC; sister -in-law: Gwendolyn Vaught of Winnabow, NC; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
