Obituary

Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the Dr. W.K. Raynor Trent River Oakley Grove Headquarters; 417 Georgetown Road, Jacksonville, NC.  Burial will follow in the Georgetown Cemetery, Jacksonville, NC.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Kinston, NC and visitation on Monday will be from 10:00 AM - 11:50 A.M. at the Dr. W.K. Raynor Trent River Oakley Grove Headquarters, prior to the service.

William Kenneth Raynor , the son of the late Sudie Murrell and Kenneth Raynor was born January 19, 1924, in Fort Barnwell, North Carolina in Craven County. He received his training at the Newbold Training School in Fort Barnwell. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at the age of seven at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church by the late Reverend S. L. Stanford.  He began his ministry at the very young age of fifteen years old. At the early age of eighteen, he was ordained in Wilmington, North Carolina and served for twelve years under the leadership of Dr. R. Irving Boone. He received his Honorary Doctorate Degree from the James Teamer School of Religion, Charlotte, North Carolina. He has held pastorates at the following churches, Virgin Hill in Tuscarora, Hill's Chapel in Trenton, First Baptist in Kellumtown, Washington Chapel in Jacksonville, Bethel in Edwards, St Monica in Grimesland, First Baptist in Maysville, Wynn's Chapel in Mt. Olive, St. Lewis in Chinquapin and First Baptist in Rose Hill. He was presently serving First Missionary Baptist in Kinston. Churches constructed under his leadership: St Lewis; which he was instrumental in building, First Baptist, Kellumtown and First Baptist, Kinston, which he also was instrumental in building.  Dr. Raynor was responsible for the construction of the Trent Headquarters building in 2001.  He served on the General Baptist State Convention Executive Board and the General Board for over 40 years.  Dr. Raynor was also the Moderator of the Trent River Oakley Grove Association for more than 26 years.  He retired from Camp Lejeune in 1987 as an Assistant Superintendent of the Golf Course. In 1990 a $1.25 million dollar edifice was constructed under his leadership, as Moderator of the Trent River Oakey Grove Association.  He served as  Moderator of the Trent River Oakey Grove Association until 2016, serving for twenty-six years. He served as secretary of Trent River Oakey Grove Association for more than thirty-three years and in 1971 he was counselor and founded the Women's Auxiliary of Trent River Oakey Grove Association for more than forty-two years.  He applied himself to the unique opportunities of the Gospel Ministry and his steps were ordered by the Lord. He was honored by the General Baptist State Convention at the January 2006 Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards Banquet in Winston Salem, North Carolina where he was given the Prestigious Award for Outstanding Leadership as Pastor/Moderator and was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the State of North Carolina. Dr. Raynor was married to the late Audrey Brown and was a proud father of twelve children, and five generations of grandchildren and loved them dearly . He was a true man of God, born anointed.  He served God all of his life.  Dr. Raynor was a leader of men and loved people.  He was great for giving you advice.  He was never an argumentative person and would give you the shirt off his back.   Dr. Raynor will be greatly missed. Dr. Raynor joined in death on September 2, 2022, his wife; Audrey, daughters; Ernestine Raynor, Evelyn Pickett, Deborah Ross and son; William Raynor Jr.  He leaves to cherish his loving memories: Children; Eddie Brown, Mildred (Jessie) Davis all of Jacksonville, NC, Delia (Glenn) Dickey of Wilmington, NC, James (Rosemary) Raynor of  New York, NY, Gary (Lisa) Raynor of Raleigh , NC,Michael L. Raynor, Vorace Raynor, Irving (Cynthia) Raynor, five generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; son-in-law; Buddy Picket of Jacksonville, NC; sisters-in-law, Sara Mae Morgan, Dorothy Howell and Ann Crawford all of Jacksonville, NC; a special cousin, Barbara Coley; a special family friend, Devola Early and a host of other relatives and friends.
