Virginia
Foy
May 21, 1932 – May 17, 2024
Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Virginia Foy was born on May 21, 1932, to the late Franklin and the late Nonie Crawford. She was reared in the town of Hallsboro, North Carolina where she attended Artesia High School. Upon graduating high school, she continued her education at Fayetteville State University. There she met and married her first husband, Mr. James Thomas who preceded her in death, and moved to Jacksonville, Florida. She resided in Florida for several years before relocating to Wilmington, North Carolina to be with her family. After relocating to Wilmington, she met and united in holy matrimony to Mr. Jasper Anderson who preceded her in death. Her last marital union was with Mr. Dan Foy for over 40 years, until his passing. Upon her return to Wilmington, Virginia joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church where she served as a dutiful and faithful member. She served cheerfully in numerous capacities including singing in the choir, serving as a Sunday school teacher and as head of the hospitality (kitchen) committee. She also willingly served in other roles as needed by the church. After a valiant battle with cancer, Virginia was called home from labor to reward on May 17, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Known for her kind, generous and loving spirit, she will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Because of the joy that she brought to others, her family ask that she be remembered as a beacon of light instead of sadness. Virginia was also preceded in death by: her son, Stanley Thomas; her grandson, Shannon Thomas; her siblings, Lillie Mae Morgan, Linburg Crawford, Richmond Crawford, Charlotte Crawford Dixon, Beatrice Newell and Clemmy Crawford. She leaves a rich legacy to her children, Helen Gail Ross (Irvin), Denise Thomas Handley, Cyd Davis (Dominique), Regina Brown (Walter), Kenneth Parson (Kimberly) and Jasper Anderson; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Thomas; her grandchildren, Camita Morgan, Russell Hewitt, Jasmine Handley, Melodie Brown, Dominique Davis, Jadanee Davis, Pierre Davis, Sable Thomas, Eugene Brown, James Ross, Kenneth Parson, Jr. and Chris Carter; and her sister, Marva Beard. As the final chapter of her life has come to an end, Virginia's memory will be cherished by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
