Vanessa Cobb
Murray
April 22, 1962 – March 7, 2024
FACE COVERINGS ARE STILL REQUIRED TO ENTER THE FUNERAL HOME!!
Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Shaw Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Calvary Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. On March 7, 2024, at 4:56 am, God loving called Vanessa to her eternal rest. She quietly sailed away, having departed from life at Novant Health. She was a devoted mother of two children and a loving spouse. She was preceded in death by her mother, Loraine Raynor, stepfather, Bruce Raynor, and brother, Duane Cobb. Vanessa was born in Charleston, SC, on April 22, 1962, and was joined in holy matrimony to her high school sweetheart, Michael Murray, Sr. She will be missed by her daughter Vianca Murray of Columbia SC, and son, Michael Murray, II (Sobin) of Wiesbaden, Germany, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews from the extended Cobb family, as well as many friends. Vanessa was a proud graduate of New Hanover High School Class of 1980, and a student – athlete involved in track, volleyball, cheerleading, softball, and powderpuff football. During her time, she was also a certified nursing assistant, city volunteer, school/office worker, and youth sports coach. She was the recipient of the Molly Pitcher Award, which was granted by the United States Army, and much more. Her boundless generosity and unwavering commitment to service touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a smile for everyone and a heart as pure as gold, for those who knew and loved her. Her memory will never grow old. A precious one from us is gone, a voice we loved is still, a place is vacant in our home that can never be filled.
