Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Warner Temple AME Zion Church.  Visitation is from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Our late beloved, Tonja, Levette Carter, known as "Toni" was born to Rose Ann Terry and the late Daryl Hackins, on March 6, 1970.  She was the first born out of three children.  Toni graduated from John T. Hoggard High School.  She later attended Cape Fear Community College and graduated with her associate in child development.  She also worked in the medical field as a CNA.  Toni loved everything about family.  She loved any type of family gatherings.  She loved to laugh, and to see others laughing.  She was known to be the "cook" when it came to the cookouts.  If you said Toni was cooking you just knew the food was going to be good, and you were about to eat good.  She was known for her chicken salad, fried chicken, and stuffing.  Toni was the caregiver of the family.  Every child knew that their Aunt Toni's house was their safe place. She made everyone feel welcome.  She also took care of many, many kids while working in the childcare field, and treated them just like her own. They knew not to play with "Aunt Toni" as they would say.  She left his earth as an employee of Kids & Company.  She was proceeded in death by Dwight Bullock nephew, Ajene Johnson brother "Mud", and a host of other relatives.  She leaves to cherish her memory; Three daughters, Tera Carter, Tiffany Bullock, and Yasmine Bullock. Seven grandchildren, Zaniyah Vaught, Alexandria Vaught, Matthew Vaught, Nazzariah Vaught, Kamal Coley, Za'vion Coley, Aubrye Bella Rose Coley, her mother, Rose Ann Terry, sisters; Crystal Terry, Tameca McCrae, Antoinette Ellis, Carol Simmons; brothers, Olden Terry (Twanna Miller) K.T.; nieces and nephews, Kristin Goodman, Justice Terry, Corzion McCrae, Quashawn Robinson, Kaydin Goodman, and Mason Carter; special cousin, Tina Smith "TT", Teketa Moore (Precious) and a host of other relatives.
