On a cool fall day, October 29, 1976. an angel was born: T'Keta Jnee McMillian Jones in Wilmington, North Carolina, to Gwendolyn McMillian and James Deputy. Affectionately called "Cookie" by her mother due to her sweet nature.  T'Keta was a beloved sister to three sisters, D'Licia, J'Meka, L'Donna and two brothers, Ricky and 'Whop.  T'Keta enjoyed a joyful childhood in Wilmington and attended New Hanover County schools, where she was known for her warmth and kind heart.  During her early years, T'Keta's mother instilled in her strong morals and values, emphasizing loyalty and faith in the Most High Elohim. From a young age, she was taught to revere YAH and follow His commandments.  T'Keta remained a devoted follower of Elohim throughout her life, unwavering in her faith until the day she transitioned.  She later attended Cape Tear Community College where she pursued a career in nursing.  T'Keta earned her certification as a nurse aide, dedicating herself to caring for others with the same compassion and loyalty that defined her character.  Early on in her life T'Keta was blessed with a child, Tashaun, who brought her immense joy and purpose.  In time, she met and married the love of her life, Henry Jones.  Together, they built a beautiful life and moved their family to Chicago, Illinois, where they were blessed with five more children; Heaven, Henry, Rachel, Naomi and Jaylah, growing their family and strengthening their bond.  T'Keta also shared her heart and home with beloved fur babies; Mello, Buttercup, and 'Bella—who brought her additional joy and comfort.  Throughout her life, T'Keta found joy in singing the gospel. A talented vocalist, she loved lifting her voice in praise to the Lord.  She also cherished the simpler moments, like fishing with her husband, Henry, and taking care of him the devotion that defined her. T'Keta treasured spending quality time with her daughters, whether they were shopping, laughing, or being silly together.  One of her favorite hobbies was collecting sunglasses, she had an impressive collection and was always excited to add a new pair to her stash.  She found joy in caring for children, whether her own, or those of extended family and friends.   She was lovingly considered a "bonus mom" by all the children who knew her.  T'Keta's nurturing spirit inspired her to dream of opening a home for children in need, where she could continue to share her love and care with those who needed it most.  Her love for life, her faith and her family were the heart of who she was. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  She was preceded in death by her father, James Deputy and her beloved sister, L'Donna Deputy. On January 15, 2025, T'Keta peacefully transitioned into the ancestral realm after a courageous battle with cancer. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Henry Jones, III, two son, Tishuad McMillian and Henry Jones, IV; four daughters, Heaven, Rachel, Naomi and ]aylah all of Chicago, Ill;  five grandchildren, Rkeem, Kalyse, Aurora, Harmony, and Kamira; her mother Gwendolyn McMillian; two brothers, J"Vard McMillian Whop and Ricky Rawls; and two sisters, D'Licia and J'Meka all of Wilmington, NC.
