Funeral will be 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at St. Stephen AME Church.  Burial will follow in Whites Creek Cemetery, 6838 Airport Road, Clarkton, NC.  Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.

Thomas Tyrone "Ty" Addison was born on August 16, 1952, in Wilmington, North Carolina, the second of six children, to the late Thomas R. Addison, Jr. and the late Johnnie Mae Davis Addison Saxton. Ty as he was affectionately called, departed this life and made his way to his resting place in the Kingdom of the Almighty on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Ty spent his formative years growing up and being nurtured in the Taylor Homes Housing Projects where he was surrounded by loving and supportive family and friends. Ty was educated in the New Hanover County School System, graduating in 1970.  Ty is and shall always be a member of the Williston Sr. High ("The Greatest School Under the Sun") Class of 1970.  He was a devoted member of the Class of 70 who would lend a helping hand and assist wherever and whenever he could.  After high school, Ty moved to Brooklyn, New York where he met and married Michelle Braithwaite and started a family.  To this union was born a daughter, Janine. In the summer of 1975, Ty enlisted in the United States Army where he served with distinction before retiring after 20 years, having reached the rank of Staff Sergeant.  After retiring, Ty returned to his hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina to settle down.  He later married Debra Cromartie who preceded him in death. Ty had a love for the water.  He spent countless hours crabbing for family and friends, whenever someone was visiting, or just because. Ty leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Janine Addison of Dallas, TX; a stepson, Nakia Cromartie of Wilmington, NC; sisters, Dentral Howard (Lonnie) of Wilmington, NC and Beverly Diane Addison of Florence, SC; brother, Toney Addison (Cynthia) of Leland, NC; three grandchildren, Keana, Derion and Tai-mon; one great grandchild, Chace; one aunt, Madeline Crumdy of Whitsett, NC; nieces and nephews, Latasha, Kamika, Kamel, Danielle, Brandon; a host  of great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, classmates, and friends, including a very special friend, Linda Baldwin Boney and many special childhood friends who will miss him tremendously but will always keep him in their hearts.
