Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Shaw Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday morning.  Sophia Larniece James passed away on November 14, 2023.  She was born in Wilmington, NC, on December 13, 1964.  Her mother Gloria Lowe and her father Ronald Lowe are deceased. She loved to read, learn, and teach. She worked for the New Hanover County School system in various positions, teaching and helping children and adults.  She was also a licensed cosmetologist. Sophia is survived by her husband Marcellus James, two children; Michico James and, Marcellus James, Jr.; two grandchildren, Xavier James, and Maya Craven; siblings, Angela Armstrong, and Terry Fennell, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
