Solomon Converse Lewis, affectionately known to his family as "Chick, " and "Blue" to military friends entered his eternal rest on September 5, 2025, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Solomon Lewis was born on September 17,1952 in Tarpon Springs, FL to the late Naomi Royal Lewis Middleton and Alphonsa DeLeon Lewis. At a young age, Solomon moved from Tarpon Springs, FL to Jamaica, Queens, NY. He often spoke of the fond memories he had as a child growing up in New York and Florida. The experiences he had as a child with his maternal and paternal families were evident in the love he showed to everyone who as close to him. In New York, his educational journey began and continued when he moved to Wadmalaw Island, SC. In 1971, he graduated from St. Johns High School located on St. John's Island, SC. After graduating from high school, Solomon became a dedicated member of the United States Navy. He proudly served as a water transporter in Edinburgh, Scotland. While in the Navy, Solomon received the National Defense Service Medal and other recognitions. After his time of service and prior to moving back to South Carolina, Solomon traveled and resided in various cities within the United States. In 1985, Solomon married Eleanor Chandler. The two were married for 33 years until her passing on February 15, 2018. Throughout the union, Solomon was a dedicated worker at Regis Milk Co. in Charleston, SC until he was impacted by a disability. Solomon truly loved his family, by train, plane or automobile, he would travel near and far to spend time and celebrate special moments with them. Solomon was one who celebrated life and looked forward to meeting new people. A fun fact, Solomon was a grass connoisseur, meaning he could tell you about any type of grass just by looking at it. Solomon was preceded in death by his parents and their spouses Alphonsa DeLeon Lewis (Helen Lewis) and Naomi Royal Lewis Middleton (James B. Middleton), his wife, Eleanor Chandler Lewis, his siblings Carolyn McKeithan, Gloria Lewis Hickman, Alphonso Lewis, and Leroy Anthony Lewis, and his nephew Jamal M. Lewis.
