Sierra Renee' Canty was born on January 19, 2006, in Wilmington, NC, to Monique Canty and Tarus Lawrence. She entered into eternal rest on June 24, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Sierra graduated from Hoggard High in June 2024. She was undoubtedly the kindest, most loving, and sweetest person. Her smile could light up anyone's world. Sierra had a deep passion for music and participated in many events, including the Polar Plunge 5K and Frosty 5K, three times. She made a lasting impression on the lives of those around her. Even when she was mad or sad, Sierra always kept a smile on her face and never let her emotions affect others for long. Sierra leaves behind cherished memories with her loving mother, Monique Canty, and stepfather, Harry Powell. She is survived by her sisters, Erin McCoy, Aryanna Thomas, Lillian Powell, Nykia Powell, Amari Powell, and her only brother, Zaire King. Her devoted grandparents, Brenda and Moses Canty, will forever hold her in their hearts. Sierra was also loved by her godparents, Rev. Richard and Mrs. Gwendolyn Robinson, and her uncles, Moses Canty and Dedrick Canty (Tianna). Her aunts, Qynasha, Tyaisha, and June Mark, along with a host of cousins, Shel Pearce, MaKayla, Bryson, Jefferson, and Johnathan, will miss her dearly. Sierra's nieces and nephews, Isabella and Isaiah, will always remember her fondly. Her great aunts, Leazin Burgess (Fred), Victoria Wilson, Carolyn Gallishaw of South Carolina, Ernestine Bland of Florida, Hattie Canty of Myrtle Beach, Cathy Strong (Dennis), and Wanda Canty of South Carolina, along with her great uncles, James Simmons of South Carolina, and Moses Gallishaw of Florida, will keep her memory alive. Sierra's loving teachers, Vanessa Bishop and Tammy Purden, and her caregivers, Sharon Hill, Jacqueline Graham, Betty and LaTifah James-Pickett, will always remember her with love.   Her adopted family, Domonique and Elaine Gore, and a host of other relatives and friends, will forever cherish the moments they shared with her.
