Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Shaw Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Calvary Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Sherri Renee Bowen was born September 30, 1971, in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Lorriane Bowen and Kenneth Genwright.  She bravely faced and overcame many health challenges throughout life.  She peacefully transitioned to heaven on July 26, 2024. Sherri was educated in the New Hanver County School System and eventually graduated from Kittrell Job Corps Center.  She worked many years as a preschool teacher and as president of Wilmington Housing Authority Community. Sherri was a bold, straight forward person.  She was also very sweet and loving with a huge sense of humor.  She enjoyed cooking, singing, and raising her children, Sherri had a strong faith in God that she always used to get through life.  In addition to her mom, Sherri was preceded in death by some of her favorite loved ones; her son, Brandon Johnson; grandmothers, Mary Lou Genwright and Pauline Jones and her Uncle Butch Genwright. She leaves to cherish fond memories: her children, Brittany Brown, Kenneth Johnson, Jarmaine Flowers and Cameasha Flowers; grandchildren, Breasia Johnson, Sarai Clark (Addi), Taniyah Pullen, Kyla Johnson, Ke'Are Johnson, and Ke'mani Johnson; father, Kenneth Genwright; siblings, Kendal   Clark, Dishawn Redd, and Tynisha Wilson-Genwright; special niece, Kenya Bouldin; special nephew, Elijah Williams; special friend, Elmer Flowers
