Sherman Lee Waddell, son of the late Ernest and Margaret Kinston, was born on August 12, 1945, in Navassa, North Carolina. He departed this life on September 16, 2025. Sherman received his education from the Brunswick County School System. During his teen and young adulthood, he was an avid baseball player. Sherman actually excelled at the sport. He especially liked to speak about the times he played with the Navassa Rams. In later years his interest shifted to the NFL with the "Dallas Cowboys" being his favorite team. After working faithfully at the Bolivia Lumber Company, Sherman retired in 2007 with forty-three years of service. Soon most of his days and nights were spent watching "Old Westerns" on TV. Sherman leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Sherman Lee Waddell, Jr. (Teresa) of Bolivia, NC; two daughters, Dildre Shaw of Raleigh, NC and Sherlyn Shaw of Leland, NC; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bruce Kinston of Leland, NC, Elwood Waddell of Wilmington, NC, Otis Waddell of Leland, NC, and William Waddell of Savannah, GA; five sisters, Wanda Hollis (Ivey) of Leland, NC, Sylvia Kinston of Navassa, NC, Barbara Robinson of Leland, NC, Mary Harrison of Wilmington, NC, and Cynthia Harrison of Castle Hayne, NC; two uncles; seven aunts; and a host of cousins and friends
