Sheila Hastie Ross was born on July 3, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York to Ruth Hastie and the late Murry Hastie, Sr. Sheila transitioned to be with the LORD on December 5, 2022, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Sheila was a proud graduate of Williston Senior High School where she excelled as a scholar student in every subject and was an active member of the Glee Club. As a little girl she was very involved in Saint Philip AME Church where she sang in the choir and served as an active Missionary. Sheila was a very active part of her community and involved in multiple senior groups. She always spoke highly of other members of the group and constantly thought of ways to serve others. Throughout her life Sheila touched many people. From her time working at Siemens for nearly 10 years until following her true passion working as a Teacher Assistant at Pine Valley Elementary School where she retired. Many aren't aware that Sheila began her teaching career at the age of 5 chastising her close cousins and friends when they did not follow her lesson plan. Sheila was very creative and enjoyed crafting, shopping, cooking, traveling, dancing, collecting, and spending time with her family and friends. She went above and beyond to put a smile on others faces and always knew what to say in time of need. To know Sheila was to love her. She loved her church family at Warner Temple AMEZ Church where she proudly served in Class Number 10, as a Missionary and on the Sunday School Committee. Above all else Sheila loved the LORD with all her heart. She was raised in the church and always knew the importance of having her own relationship with GOD. There is no doubt that Sheila is in heaven looking down on us all. Sheila leaves behind her husband, William Andrew Ross; three children Sylvia "Niecey" Hasite-Smith (Clifford Bryan Smith), Michael "Mike" Hastie (significant other Jeannie Ingram) and Andrea "Little Bit" Hastie; five grandchildren; Briannea "Bri" Hastie, Lastacia Jones, Michael Hastie, Jr., Symone Smith and Dean Daniels Jr.; one great-grandson, Eli Jacobs; two brothers, Murray Hastie, Jr. and Gregory Hastie (Joecilyn Roseboro-Hastie); a host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins, close family friends and church family.
