Funeral service will be held 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the Willie L. Shaw Jr Memorial Chapel.  Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service on Saturday. Sally Ann Southerland , lovingly known as "Cookie", departed this earthly life on Monday, July 11, 2022.  She was born December 21, 1955 in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late George and Lula Southerland.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mable Louise Nixon and two brothers, Henry Southerland and Arthur Southerland.  Sally accepted Christ early in life and joined Renewal COGIC. She attended school in New Hanover County and was employed at Nixon Oyster Plant for numerous years until her health declined.  Sally leaves to cherish her precious memory: her son, Eddie "Turk" Southerland (Dion); three grandchildren, Amy, Taivon and Armani; two sisters, Eleanor Howard and Fran Whitehead (Steve) all of the city; a special cousin, Mary Ann Williams; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Juzetta, Mildred and Priscilla.
