Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Faith Temple COGIC; 1119 South 4th Street. Visitation will be from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday.

Ruby Mae King was favored to live a full 80 years of life. She was born on April 25, 1942, to the late John and Lila Mae King in Wilmington, NC. Ruby attended Gregory Elementary School for six years. She then attended Williston High School in which she graduated June of 1961. She was a part of a large family and was the 6 th child out of 9 children. Ruby attended Ebenezer Baptist Church under the watch care of the late Rev. J. Ray Butler. Later she became a member, while accepting Jesus Christ, as her Lord and Savior. Ruby left Wilmington and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There she did some babysitting while working at Bamker Department Store as a salesclerk. She went to O.I.C. and attended night classes for fashion design. She then landed the job she wanted at Sears and Roebuck Company. She retired from there after working 40 years. She returned to Wilmington in 2006 to live for the rest of her life on this earth with her loving family. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Ruby was preceded in death by her father; John King; mother; Lila Mae King, siblings; Virginia King Pugh, Thelma King Suddeth, James King, Raymond King, and Velma King Spencer; brother-in-law; Willie James Pugh, and Ernest Nixon. She is survived by her sisters; Anna Mae Nixon, Wilhelmina King, and Gwendolyn King Carr (Thomas) of the city; and one sister-in-law Bessie Wells King, Philadelphia, Pa; adopted sons; Arthur Curtis King, Myron King and Zion Brown. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and special friends at Taylor Homes Senior Building and North Chase Rehabilitation Facility.
