Obituary

Funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Faith Temple COGIC.  Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. on Friday at Faith Temple COGIC.  Mother Rosa Mae Goodine Jamison, daughter of the late Mr. Charley & Mrs. Lauren Goodine was born on May 4, 1931, in Spartanburg, SC.  God gracefully blessed her to enjoy ninety-two (92) years, concluding her earthly mission in Wilmington, NC, on September 7, 2023.  Being raised in a God-fearing home then furthering her spiritual growth, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She purposed to live a life that would bring glory to God and share the good news of our resurrected Lord. Mother Jamison married to James Jamison, Sr., and was committed to the bond of marriage until death when God separated them.  God blessed them with nine children, and raised four grandchildren as their own (Keisha, Tyrone, Janel, and Cherelle); thus, fulfilling the Scripture in Psalm 127:3-5, "Lo, children are a heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward".   Relocating in the 1950s to Stamford, CT, she attended Wilson Memorial Church of God in Christ.  There, she grew in the knowledge and grace of the Lord and ensured her children actively participated in worshiping the Lord in spirit and in truth.  She loved her family and wanted all of them to be saved.  They raised their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and to be productive citizens in society.  From May 1949 to June 1967, while dutifully serving as a housewife and a caring mother, she attended Norwalk Community College, Norwalk, CT, and Wright Technical Trade School, Stamford, CT, where she received a certificate for Office Procedures.  She was employed as a Youth Program Director at Southfield Community Center, a Stenographer at Fleischmann Laboratories, and a Clerk Typist II, at Stamford Police Department, all in Stamford, CT.  Moving to Wilmington in 1979, she joined Faith Temple Church of God in Christ where she faithfully served in the ministry of the church under the successive leadership of Bishop Cornelius Anderson Sr., Superintendent Thomas Wiggins Jr., and Superintendent Lorenzo Edge.  Being a licensed Evangelist Missionary in the Church of God in Christ, her areas of service included being the President of the Executive Hospitality Committee, member of the Missionary Board, President of the Celestial Choir, and a member of the Mothers Board, giving words of enlightenment to those under her influence, even in her declining years.  Oh, how she enjoyed worshiping!  When singing in the choir, she led her favorite song, "Said I Wasn't Gonna Tell Nobody But, I Couldn't Keep It To Myself".  Before the end of the song, tears would flow from her eyes, and the congregation would break out in giving thanks to God.  When she testified, she would share what the Lord had done for her.  She spoke of the various sicknesses, brain, and other surgeries, and how God provided for her family, her list would go on as she told of the goodness of the Lord.  Even during failing health, as often as she could, she pressed her way to "her" church.  When she could, she would "dance" with her walker, going from one side of the church to the other.  When she could not walk, she would wave her hand and lift her voice as loud as she could unto the Lord.  She had worship in her spirit and cherished the words in Revelation 2:10 "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life".   Preceding her in transitioning to life eternal was her husband, James, Sr., sons, Danny and Vincent, and daughter, Linda.  Mother Jamison leaves to cherish precious memories, three daughters: Laurette, Lola (Robert), Roxanne, four sons; James (Jewanta), Keith (Jackie), Anthony (Tanisha), Tyrone (Anna), and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, a special "adopted" daughter, Evangelist Renita McNeill, and her Faith Temple Church family.
