Funeral service will be 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Shaw Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 2:45-3:45 P.M. prior to the service on Sunday.

Robert Earl Bridges was the son of two special mothers Cleo Bridges, Rosalind Olivia and his father Robert Lee Bridges of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, in Nash County.  He was the oldest of eight children.  Robert grew up with a strong foundation of love, values and faith, which guided him throughout his life.  He was known for his generosity, strength and unwavering commitment to his family and friends.  His sense of humor, kindness, big smile and love for life, left a huge mark on those fortunate enough to have known him.  At an early age, Robert attended Booker T. Washington High School, in Rocky Mount, NC.  He went on to join the Army.  He was later honorably discharged.  Robert went on to work various jobs such as working at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  Robert enjoyed Nascar Racing, The Carolina Panthers, old movies and WWE.  On September 15, 2024, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.  Robert is proceeded in death by his late special mothers, Rosalind Bullock and Cleo Bridges, his father Robert Lee Bridges; brothers, Michael F. Bridges, Warren Bullock, McKinley Bridges, James Bridges, Larry Bullock; special brother Walter Carr, and sister Valerie Bridges-Flowers.  Robert leaves behind his wife Miranda Holmes Bridges, his son Antwain Bridges (Elizabeth); special son/nephew Ronald Bragg and stepdaughter Tamika Tillie.  He also leaves with memories his sister Rosalind Pinella of New York, Edith Diane Walker of Maryland (Gerald), Glenda Lee Bridges of Washington, DC, and Robin Bridges Johnson of Wilmington, NC.  Robert also leaves behind a special niece Bridgette Johnson, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
