Obituary

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Spring Green Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M on Monday at the church.  Mr. Richard Wesley Bryant Sr. was born in Acme, North Carolina on October 6, 1939, to the late James Frederick Bryant and Pauline Murphy Bryant. He departed this life on April 21, 2022, at the home.  Deacon Bryant served as a trustee and chairmen of the deacon board at the Spring Green Missionary Baptist Church, Riegelwood, North Carolina.  Additionally, he was a member of the senior choir and male chorus, where he traveled often and sang the song, "Sealed Until the Day of Redemption".  Richard, affectionately called, "Pappy" by family and friends, was the youngest child of six, raised in Columbus County, and attended Armour High School, where he graduated in 1958.  On June 26, 1960, Ricard married the love of his life, Annie Lucinda Pellom.  Shortly afterwards, they moved to New York where they spent nearly ten years.  Together, they were blessed with seven children, one proceeded him in death, Felix M. Pellom.  After returning home, Pappy began working at the International Paper Company in Riegelwood. For thirty-four years, he worked in the finishing department and retired in the year 2000.  Richard enjoyed gardening, planting trees, watching things grow, and served as a father figure to many, especially Bishop Peter Halloway and Mary Shipmen.  He was proceeded in death by three brothers, James F. Bryant Jr., Earl T. Bryant Sr., and Foster E. Bryant, one sister, Lorrena Rae Frazer and three great-grandchildren, Makayla, Anthony Jr., and Ariyonna.  He leaves to cherish his memories, wife of sixty-one years, Annie P. Bryant, six children, Richard W. Bryant Jr. (Louise), James A. Bryant (Sharon), Alecia B. Jiribe (Godwin), Darrell V. Bryant, Brandon D, Bryant (Delores), and Shaquana T. Grate (Christian), one brother, Bobby Eugene Bryant, and two sisters-in-law, Jackie and Delores Bryant, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen greatgrandchildren, a special nephew, Jerome Pellom, two life-long friends, Mr. Foster Daniels and Mr. Sylvester Ballard, a caregiver, Melissa Brooks, and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
