Reginald Wells, beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the age of 65. Reginald, the son of Howard Wells and the late Wilhelmenia King-Wells, was born on May 8, 1958, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Reginald was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Vernella Reeds; paternal grandparents, John K. Walker and Annie Mae Walker; a brother, Howard Wells, Jr.; and uncles, George Smith, Walter Smith, Lee B. Smith, and Johnny King. Reggie, as he was affectionately known, was known for his kindness, generosity, unwavering love for his family and friends, and his unmatched sense of humor. He touched the lives of all who knew him with his infectious laughter, rambunctious spirit, and larger-than-life personality. Reggie was a self-taught handyman and fisherman who was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and family members in need. Reggie cherished spending time with his family, making his nieces and nephews laugh, and telling stories about his adventures in his "Reggie-Way." One could never leave Reggie's presence without experiencing Reggie's infectious laughter. The irony is that Reggie's life was not an easy one, but his resilience and ability to fight through even life's hardest obstacles left his loved ones a legacy of love and strength. Reggie's life and legacy will continue to be cherished by: his father, Howard Wells (Thelma); his brothers, Michael Wells, Tony Simmons (Kelly), Gregory Debose, Milton Debose, James Simmons, and Dennis Simmons (Kathy); his sisters, Janice Wells, Jacqueline Hicks (Dennis), and Sonia McCoy (Juan); his uncle, Carlton Smith (Queenie); his aunts, Carolyn Stallings (Maceo), Jacqueline Burnett (Alfred), and Brenda Wilson (Warren), and a host of nieces, cousins and many friends. Reggie loved all of his cousins and extended family. Still, his special bond and relationship with his cousin-sisters, Angela Smith and Cara Emerson will be forever etched in the grails of time. Though Reggie may be gone from our sight, Reginald's love, laughter, and legacy will continue to brighten the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was loved beyond measure.
