Obituary

Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at the Willie L. Shaw Jr Memorial Chapel.  Visitation will be prior to the service. Reginald D'Mitric Barrett affectionately called "Reggie, Trinidad, IG or D" by family and friends, entered this earthly life on February 5, 1972, in Greenville, North Carolina at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.  He departed his earthly stay suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, April 15, 2024, during open heart surgery at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.  He was the oldest son of Willie J. Fleming and the late Brenda A. Barnett.  Reggie enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.  He especially loved spending time with his granddaughter Leana Joyce.  During his visits with people, Reggie aka Mr. Jada Kiss was sure to be rocking his favorite color black.  Reggie was sure to bless us day or night with his signature look wearing all black sunglasses, all black cap, and all black cashmere scarf.  On days when "Jack Frost had lost his mind" Reggie was sure to have his all-black toboggan slanted to the side.  Trinidad was an untamed spirit and would at a moment's notice find himself traveling in his car on the road heading to a planned or unplanned adventure.  His free spirit, love of storytelling and love for people fueled his entrepreneurial hustle and go getter attitude which led him to have numerous professions like music promotor, party promotor, security officer, recovery facility treatment assistant and nursing home hospitality administrator.  The building blocks for the foundation of these attributes were laid by Reggie at 16 years old in the Job Core where he did the work that helped him become a man.  Although he was a man about his business, he made time to enjoy things like music, sports, and food.  His favorite rapper was "Biggie", but he also enjoyed 80's Rap as well.  In the world of sports, he was a fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles.  As far as food goes, Reggie was a lover of all leftovers.  That being said, he did have his favorites like a nice cold glass of OJ, fried chicken, cheeseburgers, and his sister Andrea's mac and cheese.  Reggie wore many hats and, was many great things to everyone who was fortunate enough to have met him in his lifetime but let us never forget that he was a Prince. Reggie was proceeded in death by his mother Brenda A. Barrett (Bobby) and his sister Sakinah Cook. Reggie leaves to cherish his memory, his father Willie J. Fleming (Roslyn, Mom); brother, Otis Barrett (Avenette); sisters, Andrea Brewington (Kenneth), Roxann Dumas (Curtis) and Jessica Glaspie (Emmett).  Fiancé Rose Brown.  To carry on his legacy, Reggie leaves his children; Brittany Jones (Dechanta), Fuquan Wilson, Chakala Hill, Nijel Hill, Meadow Shepard, Kristopher Sanders, Laila Stokes, My'Son Barrett, Mason Brown, Madelyn Brown, and one granddaughter Liliana Hines.
