Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

RAYMOND NORRIS MOTT, SR ., the son of the late Beverly Mott and Raymond Holmes was born March 30, 1968, in Wilmington, NC. He departed his earthly life on Friday, November 11, 2022.
Raymond attended primary and secondary schools in the New Hanover County School district. He graduated from New Hanover High School in 1986. Raymond enjoyed engaging in various sports, such as football, basketball, and track. He even played in the semi-professional football league. He also loved to travel. Prior to his illness, he was employed at Coating & Adhesives Corporation in Leland, NC. Raymond was a devoted member of Speaks Temple AME Zion Church in Wilmington, NC where he served faithfully until it closed. He later transferred his membership to Christian Chapel AME Zion Church in Winnabow, NC. Raymond is the Past Master of Giblem Lodge #2 PHA F&AM, the second oldest Black Masonic Temple in North Carolina. Raymond worked collaboratively with others within the community, especially the Wilmington Historical Society, to preserve and restore the historic building. He can be quoted as saying in a Star-News article, "with the support of the community we hope to see the vision come to life." The quote not only refers to the beauty Raymond saw in the building, but in the beauty, he was able to see in the community. Brother Raymond Norris Mott was also of a member of the Wilmington Consistory #63 32 nd degree. He was the Grand Pursuviant of the MWPHGL of NC. "Charlie", or "Uncle Charlie" as he was so affectionately called, loved GOD and life. He enjoyed the company of family and friends. His love for others made any stranger feel like they had known him forever. He truly demonstrated to everyone the importance of helping one another and living every day to the fullest. Many who knew Raymond can attest to his love for fishing, eating crabs, dancing, and music. He also used his quick wit and humor to make you laugh and think. In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his siblings, Sarah Mott and Anthony Boyd. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Latasha "Candi" Howard-Mott of the home; four daughters, Zaina Rai Beyler-Mott of Wisconsin, Tamika Mott of Florida, Samaria Holmes-Mott of North Carolina, and Kiayana Hill of New Jersey; three sons, Adrian Abeyta (Anna) of Wisconsin, Raymond Mott Jr. of New York and Cameron Howard of Virginia; three grandchildren, Quincey, Payton, and Ivee all of Wisconsin; five sisters, Marchelle Shufford, Barbara Rabb (Myron), Pearl Mott Tyson (Louis), Melinda Brinkley, and Angel McCray all of North Carolina; three brothers, Ryan Mott, Anthony Barnes (Retanna), and Chan Boyd all of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Dentral Howard and father-in-law, Lonnie Howard both of North Carolina; sisters -in-law: Latonya Coggins of North Carolina and Catrina Bunting-Smith (Marc Smith Sr.) of New York; brother-in-law, Antwan Dixon of North Carolina; an uncle Willie Holmes and a special aunt Permetia Shepherd, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
