Raquan Deshawn Wilson, lovingly known by many a "Sham" was born on February 12, 1991, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was the beloved son of LaChrystal Wilson, who preceded him in death and Roderick Simpson of Wilmington. RaQuan was educated in the New Hanover County school system, where he formed lasting friendships and created unforgettable memories. During his school years, he was known for his love of basketball and could often be found on the court, those years helped shape the man he became. A true entrepreneur at heart, RaQuan built a life around his passions. He was the proud owner of "Sham's Grilled Seafood", where he was known for serving up mouthwatering crabs straight off the grill, and "Chozyn Frenchies", a breeding business that reflected his deep love and care for dogs. He also used his artistic eye and love for the game as a Videographer for the Aria Paris Basketball League, capturing the energy, emotion, and excitement of the sport that had always been close to his heart. Through each of these ventures, RaQuan built a legacy grounded in hard work, pride, and authenticity. RaQuan was the devoted father to his two daughters, Makyn'ze Nelson and Chozyn Wilson. He and their mother, Kwanishia Nelson, were together when she passed away in 2023, a heartbreaking loss that deeply affected their family. Throughout this difficult time, RaQuan remained a pillar of strength and love for Makyn'ze and Chozyn, fiercely committed to raising them with care, compassion, and unwavering support. His dedication to his daughters was at the heart of everything he did, and his love for them was a lasting legacy that will continue to guide and inspire them. RaQuan is survived with deep love and cherished memories by his mother-in-love, La'Shonta Skeeters; his grandparents, Benita "Nita" Wilson, Elijah and Rose Washington; his siblings, RaKeem Wilson (Sharita Bell), Ra'Quesha Wilson (Fredrick Gilbert), RaMesha Simpson (Nathan Boman) of Cartersville, GA, RaMeek Wilson, and Ja'Ky Rucker; as well as his aunts and uncles, Omeka Wilson, Kenneth "Cecil" Carmichael, Shakira Wilson, Frederick Simpson, Robin Brown Bailey (Ross) and Tiesa Doughty.
