I, Patricia Ann Brown Harris entered into eternal rest on March 10, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina, surrounded by those I loved the most and who loved me the same. I was born on February 23, 1967, to the joy of my parents, the late Ezra Brown, Sr. and Geneva Hartman Brown, their baby girl of nine, in Detroit, Michigan. My journey through Wayne County Public Schools were, Jones Elementary School, Barbour Middle School and Kettering High School. "Shout out to all my classmates." Even though I was raised in Detroit, my family and I would come to Wilmington, North Carolina, the Wrightsboro Community, every summer until we were 18. This was a tradition our father started so we would know our roots. I enjoyed being with my cousins, the Hartman, Peterson and Davis, playing games in the sand and dancing in the grass by my Aunt Thersa Peterson's Store. The music would be playing from the juke box, and we would be singing along. My favorite songs were: Let's Dance to the Drummer's Beat and any songs by Doug E Fresh. We would be watching the adults party and it made us want to grow up. It was great just to be inside while the music played all night long. The only thing was we had to have the younger cousins back to Aunt Theresa's house by the time the streetlights came on. Thanks cousin La Shonda (lol). After earning my GED from Wayne State Community College, I made up in my mind it was nothing I couldn't accomplish. So, I moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1989, and began a career in management for restaurants and businesses which later led me to a career in retail management and I joined Walmart Store #1183 in women's apparel. I loved my job and those I shared my time with. Thank you, Janet, Angie, Ms. Delores, Coach Kathia and Michelle for being more than coworkers, but family, love y'all! Y'all know I loved dressing up and was told I was a fashionista, cause I always added my extra touch to any outfit I wore, which made people say, "Who's that girl!" My style was all my own. I hope y'all saw that with my vibrant spirit, I always left an impression good or bad, but it was left! I gave but sometimes got nothing back, but it only made me work that much harder. I loved to laugh, and dance and music was deep in my soul. My greatest reward was becoming a mother. It added a new dimension to my life with the birth of three sons, Carl Jr, Demetrice and Trevell and them grandbabies only made me smile harder. I enjoyed cooking, crafting, making my earrings, which I did to support myself when my cancer journey started. Please get a second or third opinion cause nobody knows your body like YOU. Our health is our wealth, I learned this too late. I leave to honor my memory: my three sons, Carl Bowen, Jr., Demetrice Bowen and Trevell Bowen; my mother, Geneva Brown, my grandchildren, Tyshawn Bowen, Samaya Bowen, Kymberle Bowen, Sincere Bowen, Sydney Bowen, Kamiya Bowen, Gi'Ona Green, Montana Leach-Bowen, Memphis Leach-Bowen, Amira Bowen, Sanaa' Bowen, and Ky'yomi Bowen; great-granddaughter, Kierria Bowen; one brother, Reginald Brown; goddaughter, Jamiesha Owens; my sister/cousin/bestie, LaShonda Teague, Baby Sister Yolanda Merrell; special sister friends, Cassandra Reddy, Betty Ilsom and Natasha Creech; and a special friend, Beverly Stevens. Thanks to each of you for always staying true to me and loving me when family didn't always give me love. 3 biological sisters, Yvonne (William "Peter") Sidberry, Val Jackson and Cynthia Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends. To anyone who has any questions, I Patricia wrote my own obituary and I stand on it. Blood doesn't make you family, love does!
