Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at New Beginning Christian Church; 3120 Alex Trask Drive. Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Pastor Curtis Lance Gause, the youngest of eight children, was born an August 14, 1967, to the late Dorine Wilson and Garland Jacobs. Surrounded by family and friends, he peacefully departed, leaving behind a legacy of faith, forgiveness and unity. Raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, Curtis was known for his athleticism, artistic talent, and charismatic personality. At the time of his passing, he served as head pastor of Ark & Olives Deliverance Ministries, a role he cherished alongside his devoted wife Leola Gause. A man of profound faith, Curtis dedicated his life to serving God and fostering love and unity within his community. Beloved for his kind and forgiving spirit, he extended grace and compassion to others even in adversity. His charming presence and wise words left a lasting impression on all who encountered him. Known for his quiet strength, Curtis upheld integrity in every decision, choosing to uplift those around him and avoid gossip. His spiritual journey was marked by personal growth and transformation. He rededicated his life to Christ and was ordained in 2019 and found Ark & Olives Deliverance Ministries. Additionally, he established Art & Olives, LLC, a successful trucking company, and Doves Janitorial Services, a thriving commercial cleaning business. In 2022, Curtis joined Fathers on the Move, an initiative helping young fathers break free from cycles of incarceration. He was ordained as a pastor in 2022 and received his pastoral license on July 16, 2023. In July 2024. he became a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist, providing invaluable support to individuals recovering from mental illness and substance use disorder. Above all, Curtis was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Leola Gause; his eight children, Curtis "Lil Ra" Gause (Roxy). Racheena Gause (Sergio), Destinee Wilkinson (D'Jarrae), Diamond Gause, Curtis Gause, Ayesha Dubar, Kegan Dubar, and Elon Robinson; and eight grandchildren, Curtis "Timmy", Nyla. Mekhi, Currency, Elias, Tyson, Nova, and Halo - - who were the joy and pride of his life. He is also survived by his siblings; Gale, Lillian (Eddie), Ronald, Anthony, Angela, Cynthia, and Frederick; special aunts, Liz and Arsena; best friends Anthony Hardwrich, and Dwight Walker, a host of nieces, nephews. and countless others whose lives were touched by his wisdom and love. More than a pastor, and community leader, Curtis was a beacon of hope, love. and unyielding faith. His legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those privileged to have known him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy inspire love and unity among all who knew him. Rest in peace, Pastor Curtis Lance Gause.
