Olivia Dowe, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and so much more, has been and will always be a beacon of light to our family.  With our memories of her wisdom, knowledge, good deeds and guiding us through life's passages ahead we continue to hold her in our hearts.  She quietly went to rest at home on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Olivia was born to the late Henry Everette and Julia Robinson Everette on May 13, 1941, in Wilmington, NC. Her family later moved to Leland, NC, where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. She met and fell in love with her devoted and loving husband, Paul Dowe, Sr., and their union as husband and wife began on August 14, 1960.  During this union they were blessed with seven children, Paul Jr., Toni, Glenn, Anthony, Curtis, James, and Kim. Olivia dedicated her life to Christ at a very early age.  From childhood to adulthood, she worshipped at Summerville AME Zion Methodist Church in Leland, NC. In 1980.  The Everette-Dowe family donated a portion of land for the initiative of St. Matthews Church, where it stands, today.  She was a faithful, loyal, and dedicated member.  During her tenure at St. Matthews Church, she served in every capacity possible.  She sang in various choirs and gospel groups in the community. Olivia was a Christian, God Fearing, Leader, Kind-hearted, Honest, Energetic, Witty, willing to open her heart or home.  She shared money with those in need.  She loved singing, praying, traveling, and family.  She was a caretaker and was very resourceful.  She enjoyed time with Silky Smooth Line Dancers. Olivia worked at a family-owned dry cleaners. She also worked at a funeral home, teacher assistant, and as a bus driver at Brunswick County Schools system until retirement. Olivia lived a life defined by dedication, service, and love for her community.  As a proud member of the Volunteer Rescue Squad, Olivia selflessly gave her time and energy to help those in need, embodying the true spirit of compassion and courage.  Through her involvement with the Order of the Eastern Star Camelia Chapter #602 and Sisters of Giblem #646, Olivia displayed a deep commitment to charitable causes and fellowship, making a meaningful impact on the lives of many.  In addition, her cherished membership in the Twilight Club reflected her love of camaraderie, fostering lasting friendships, and contributing to the enrichment of her community. Olivia's legacy of service and kindness will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.  She leaves behind a shining example of what it means to live a life in service to others, and her memory will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.
