Niecie Keaton, God's beloved was born to the late James Keaton and Julia Holmes Keaton on September 10, 1924.  Her spirit was received by God himself to eternal rest on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at her home.  Niecie attended Williston Industrial School in New Hanover County.  She was an avid reader.  You could say she was a politician.  She even had her own debates with anyone who listened.  Niecie loved to cook and enjoyed working for Fisher Restaurant for twenty years and later for the Wilmington Housing Authority for about twenty-five years, retiring with honors.  Niecie never met a stranger.  She had love for everyone.  That was the beginning of a loving friendship.  Gardening, plants, flowers, painting, moving the piano, laying linoleum rugs, enjoying good fun and laughter were some of the things that made her happy.  But, we can't forget her RED lipstick, ice cream and root beer soda.  Niecie loved all of her family, and they really made her HAPPY!  Most important is Niecie had a great love for Jesus Christ.  She attended church regularly until her steps became shorter. All of us will miss her presence with that smile that would light up a room.  In addition to her parents, Niecie was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Keaton; son, Kenny Keaton and her four siblings: Beulah Mae, Ernestine, Betsey and Arthur.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her nephews, Fred Lovan (Jeanette), Reginald Lovan (Cynthia); and Medgar Lovan; nieces, Jean Richardson and Elizabeth L. Mitchell; cousins, Pastor Vanessa Armond (George), Betty Goganious, L.G. Goganious, Keith Goganious, Jackie Owens, Pastor Reginald Sherden (Barbara), the Keaton Family of Riegelwood, NC, and the Sherden Family of Baltimore, MD; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends.
