Mosetta Williams Johnson was born January 4, 1928, to the late Charlie and Mary Smith Williams of the Delco, NC and departed this life on October 3, 2022, at Novant/New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was married to her late husband, Josh Johnson for more than 50 years before God called him home in 2001.   In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Williams and 3 sisters, Christie Bell Johnson, Caroline Williams, and Golda Williams.  As the oldest girl in a family of six children, she learned responsibility and service at an early age. She was taught about God at her mother's knee and accepted Christ as her savior while still a teenager. Mother Mosetta, as she was affectionately known, was a lifelong member of Evergreen AME Zion Church in Delco where she served as the church mother, missionary, a captain of the Lay Council, a member of Salem Lodge #14 and a member of the Deaconess Board.  All of her life Mother Johnson was a faithful wife, mother, friend and Christian. She was known for praying for the community and individuals no matter the time of day or night and always had a kind word and a smile. She was called to the ministry in the late 1970's and preached her trial sermon at Evergreen AME Zion church. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 91 and when bidding goodbye, she would lovingly state,  "May God keep you covered  under his blood."  She also loved cooking, wearing her fancy church hats and watching the Dallas Cowboys play football.  She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Mary Johnson-Williams (Willie) of Charlotte, NC and Joseph Johnson (Evette) of the home; one sister, Geneva Carter of Seneca, SC; 11 grandchildren, Maurice of  Columbia, MD; Shanaya of Whiteville, NC, Juantrice of Wilmington, NC;  Joseph Jr. (Erica) of  El Paso, TX, Whitney and Adrienna of Delco, NC,  Tatiana of Whiteville, NC, Jeanelle of Lancaster, SC, Shareen of Marion, VA, Darnell of Wytheville, VA  and Quentin of High Point, NC; 19 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
