Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Perkinsville Baptist Church, Northwest. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation is from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary Perkins Shaw was born on December 6, 1948, to the late Elijah and Lucille Perkins in Northwest, North Carolina. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Celia Spencer. Mary peacefully entered into eternity on November 12, 2022, with her girls by her side at Lower Cape Fear Life Care.

Growing up, Mary was an active and well-rounded student. She served as the vice president of her sophomore class, secretary of the Dramatics Club, a member of New Homemakers of America, and Future Teachers of America. As her brother Elijah said, "She was a go-getter." She was one of nine students in the first graduating class of the newly integrated Leland High School.

After high school, Mary married the love of her life, Jerry Leon Shaw "Studor". In this union, they had two beautiful daughters, Marion "Tina" and Tonya. They made their home in Castle Hayne. Mary attended Crystal Spring Baptist Church in her youth where she was baptized. She continued her spiritual journey as a faithful servant of

Perkinsville Missionary Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School, was a member of the senior choir and loyally served as a "Mother of the church". She was committed and dedicated to serving God, her family, and her community. Mary worked for Corning Incorporated in the early 70's. In 1979, she worked at MJB Manufacturing and later became a supervisor. After resigning she homed in on her entrepreneurial skills and partnered with her sister-in-law Mearline Perkins to create Shaw and Perkins Cleaning Services. She ended her work career in the beauty industry as a store manager for Sally's Beauty Supply.

She leaves to cherish her memory - her first and only love - husband, Jerry "Studor" of 55 years, two daughters, Tina (Eric), Leland, NC and Tonya (Earl), Knightdale, NC. A special daughter Adriane Grady (Darryl) of Norfolk, VA, Four brothers, Elijah Perkins, Jr. "Perk" (Jeanette), Douglas Perkins "F. D." (Nealie), Dwight Perkins (Mearline) and Rev. Donald Ray Perkins all of Northwest. One sister, Lynn Roles, Baltimore, MD. One sister in-law Barbara Shaw Baldwin (Sam), Castle Hayne, NC. One brother-in-law, William Hayes Newkirk (Linda) Wallace, NC. Six grandchildren, Deona, Ade, Ezra, Jay, and Erica. One great-grandson, Derrick.
