Obituary

Funeral service will be 1:30 P.M. on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Christian Chapel #2 Browntown Community.  Burial will follow in the Edgecomb Cemetery.  Visitation is from 6-8:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Daisy Nixon Morrison was born on September 13, 1925, to the late Telfair and Hattie Nixon of the Browntown Community.  She departed this life and heaven gained an angel on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her husband Clessie Lee Morrison, Sr.; daughter, Sylvia Hyman and grandsons Michael McIntyre and Shawn Shepard. Mary Daisy grew up in the Browntown Community and attended school in Pender County.  She united in marriage with Clessie Lee Morrison, Sr.  This union was blessed with three children.  "Muh" as she was affectionately called by her family was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was employed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina for over 20 years.  She was a spiritual Christian woman who was a life-long member of Christian Chapel #2 Missionary Baptist Church.  She served faithfully as Church Secretary, Mission Ministry Fourth Vice-President, member of the Senior Choir and a member of the Mother Board.  She was also active in the combined Fifth Sunday Union District Choir.  Mary Daisy was a very kind, caring and generous giver.  She always opened her door to welcome you into her home and provided food, clothing and shelter to many people in need.  She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Michael Morrison (Karen) of Wilmington, North Carolina and Clessie Lee Morrison, Jr. (Carmen) of Raeford, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Armand Hyman (LaTequa), Corey Morrison, Rasheena Morrison and Brandon Morrison; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sister-in-law, Louvenia Shepard; goddaughter, Dr. Angelia J. Washington; a very special niece, Angela Nixon; two special nephews, Enoch Hansley, Jr. and Ronald McFadden; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
