Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Davis Chapel Church, Navassa, NC.  Visitation will be at Davis Chapel on Wednesday from 5-7:00 P.M.  Burial will be in the Mears Cemetery.  Martha Bryant Grady was born March 22, 1931, to the late Carrie Bryant and Edward Burriss.  She received her Angel wings on October 12, 2023, at home in Navassa, North Carolina. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny James Grady Sr., daughters Shirley B. Williams (Edward) and Linda L. Bryant, grandson Eddie Williams Jr., sister Wanita West, brothers John Kelley, Willie Freeman, John Henry Moore, and Levi Moore, Sr.  Martha was a faithful member at Davis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for many years.  She served on many boards, but she held being a Deaconess close to her heart.  She worked at Blocks Shirt Factory for many years until she retired.  She was the first female from Navassa appointed and elected to be a Councilwoman.  Martha was well known throughout the surrounding neighborhoods for saying a kind word and talking about the Lord and how she "is staying with him no matter what".  She completed her mission on earth and faithfully answered HIS call.  She leaves to cherish her memories: two loving sons, Maurice Bryant (Beverly Barnes) and Johnny J. Grady Jr., bonus children Geralene Mosley, of Navassa, NC, Carolyn Andrews of New Jersey, Patricia White (Gregory), Levi Moore, Jr. (Shawn) of Navassa NC, and Earlene Sloan (Howard) of Jacksonville, Florida; brothers, Lewis Burriss of Baltimore, MD, and Earnis Bryant (Pauline) of Navassa, NC; grandchildren, Lynell M. Williams, Anthony J. Williams (Tangela), Patrick G. Grady, Karie S. Grady, Joshua E. White, Andrea Smith (Garl), Audrey Barnes, Carlos Barnes (Paulette), Marlene Sloan, Lafonda Gulley (Gordon), Dexter Sloan (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Veronda U. Williams, Maurice D. Williams, Jasmine T. Williams, Jeavon T. Williams Jr., Tristian A. Williams, and Michael Smith; great-great grandchild, Kayceon B.
