Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.  Visitation is from 5:00 -8:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.

" An end to a long journey, and a beginning to a new one" Marion Adelaide Yeoman Morris the fifth child of the late Reverend Willie Yeoman and the late Adelaide Mallette Yeoman of the Chapel Road Community, in Leland, North Carolina made her Earthly Arrival on March 4, 1924.  She made her Heavenly Arrival on March 31, 2024.  Our God who is always just and merciful, looked down from His Celestial Home and took our Marion Adelaide "Sugar Morris" to grace His Heavenly Garden. Marion, known to many as "Sugar Morris", can be remembered for her caring and sharing spirit.  Her attitude and love for people won her many friends.  Marion was educated in the Brunswick County Public Schools and later transferred to New Hanover County Public Schools, graduating from Williston Industrial School.  She graduated from Hampton Institute in Hampton, Virginia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics, with a specialty in Textiles and Food Management. Also, she furthered her studies in the Master's Program at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina.  "Sugar Morris" was a Master Seamstress and Nutrition Specialist. Early in life, Marion accepted Christ and united with Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Leland, North Carolina.  Later, she joined Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina.  She served faithfully, assisting in the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Activities.  Marion and the late Marvis Waddell McCrimmon were the cocreators of the Ebenezer Crocheting Class and the Soup For Seniors Program which was a huge success. Marion was married to Joseph Alfred Morris of Southport, North Carolina who preceded her in death.  To this union a daughter was born, Kaye Antoinette "Toni" Morris. Marion was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.  She was an outstanding educator, caring neighbor, and friend.  Her radiant smile and kind spirit will be remembered throughout our lives. Marion was very active in the community.  She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. , the Retired Teachers of the Cape Fear Area and the New Hanover County Retired School Personnel, National Education Association, The North Carolina Association of Educators and the Wilmington Chapter of Hampton University Alumni Association.  She was the recording Secretary for the Retired Teachers of the Cape Fear Area and New Hanover County Retired School Personnel for many years.  Marion was an educator in Brunswick and New Hanover Counties.  She retired after 45 years of service in the Public School Systems. She taught high school students as well as older adults in the counties. In addition to her parents and her husband, Marion was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Norman LaVance Green and her siblings: Louise Evangeline Yeoman Gore, Perry Otis Yeoman, Lawrence Rudolph Yeoman, Alexander Yeoman, John Howell Yeoman, and George Starkey Yeoman. She is survived  her daughter, Kaye Antionette Morris Green of Durham, North Carolina; grandson, Evan LaVance Green of Graham, North Carolina; great-grandson, Xavier LaVance Green of Henrico, Virginia; godson, Reginald Waddell of Chicago, Illinois;  sister, Catheryne Ernestine Yeoman Arledge; nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces, her adopted families and a host of other relatives and friends, including her adopted sons, Errol Yeoman and Harold "JR" Yeoman for their love and kindness throughout the years.
