Lydia Tindall Taylor was born was born March 12th, 1937, in Wilmington, N.C., to the late Nora Cobia-Tindall and Benjamin Tindall. God called her home on October 2nd, 2024. Lydia was educated in the New Hanover County School system. Lydia was known for her FIERY personality. She didn't believe in biting her tongue. If she had a problem with you, she didn't hesitate to let you know. She was very protective of her family and she stood up for those who felt they had no voice. If you needed her, no matter what time of day or night, she would be there. Lydia attended church regularly with her family at Mt Roney Baptist Church. It was there that she accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as her saviour. In 1969, she married Clarence Taylor who proceeded her in death in 1988. They moved their family to Philadelphia, PA in 1973 where she resided until her passing. Lydia was employed at Lovely Lady Comfort Company for over 20 years until she retired. Lydia loved dolls and she had an extensive collection which she was very proud of. She was a sophisticated lady with extravagant taste. She loved to "Dress to Impress". She had all of the latest dresses, suits, shoes, hats, handbags etc. You name it, she had it. All of her girls knew where to go for the "good stuff" which was right in her closet. Lydia attended the Innov Age Life Center daily. There, she made a lot of friends who would become her extended family. She loved to talk about all of the trips and outings she attended. She loved to show off her artwork. Lydia won awards for being Best Dressed and for her impressive dance moves. Her other love was food. For such a little woman, she had a big appetite. She loved to eat and to tell you all about it. She loved going to restaurants with her son Darrell. In addition to her parents and husband, Lydia was also preceded in death by one child, Tonya Tindall and eight siblings, Geraldine Swint, Charles Tindall, Katie Lea Ransome, Sidney Tindall, Benjamin Tindall, Susie Mae Boone, Johnny Tindall, and Bobby MacFarland. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Vivian Green (James), Diana Mitchell, Helen Tindall, Elnora Tindall and one son, Darrell Tindall; six grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; 36 nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
