Graveside service will be held 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Calvary Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday.

Luvenia P. Dowdell, age 70, went home to be with the LORD on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Luvenia was born October 23, 1951, in Birmingham, AL, to Beverly Howard and Bertha Mae Perry.  She spent most of her life in Birmingham and moved to Wilmington, NC in 2013.  She became an active member of The Love Factory Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess, and on the Intercessory Prayer Team.  Her hobbies were:  reading her Bible, doing word puzzles, being a foster grandparent at a local school, and sipping coffee at all hours of the day and night.  She never knew a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone that she came across.  Luvenia leaves to cherish her memories:  three children, Morris Johnson, Tywana (Wilbert, Jr.) Cannaday, Birmingham, AL, Amber Preston, Wilmington, NC; seven grandchildren; JMorris Pope, Justice Tart, Britney (Lorenzo) Smith, Meghan Wilbon, Samuel Pendleton, Desiree Preston and Devon Wallace; three great grandchildren; Kelvin and Delmous Gooden and Karson Wilbon; two sisters, Gloria Young and Elnora Wallace, Birmingham, AL; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Preceding her in death; her husband Arthur James Dowdell, father Beverly Howard, mother, Bertha Mae Perry and brother Mathew Perry.
