Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Price Cathedral AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the funeral home.
Lloyd "Red" Mishoe, son of the late James and Dora Mishoe, was born on March 15, 1942, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He departed this life on Friday, December 19, 2025, in his beloved Wilmington, North Carolina. Lloyd was educated in the New Hanover County School System. At a young age, he became a member of Price Cathedral AME Zion Church. Where he served for many years with the Male Chorus, and up until his illness, he helped wherever he was needed. Later on in life, Lloyd met and married Doris Aiken of Wilmington, North Carolina. Through their hard work, dedication, and love, they built a strong and caring family. All while raising their children with pride and Godly values. Every Sunday they would gather at their home to have huge dinners filled with love and laughter, always welcoming all family and friends. "Red", as he was fondly called by many family members and friends, was hardworking and dependable man. He was employed at fine local Coca Cola plant and was a well-respected union representative until his retirement. Because of his genuine love for people, after his retirement, "Red" went back to work at McDonald's for several years. He enjoyed engaging with the customers on a daily basis. Lloyd had a special gift for warmly welcoming people of all ages and making everyone laugh at his funny jokes. Lloyd was also a proud member of the Wilmington Sportsman Club. He loved traveling to many events, including the Atlanta baseball games and especially to York City for the Annual Wilmingtonian Ball. On December 19th, Lloyd bid his final farewell to everyone. He leaves to cherish his memory, his five remaining children James, Mary Aiken of Wilmington, North Carolina, Raymond Aiken of Wilmington, North Carolina, Doris Larry Taylor North Carolina. Loving sisters, Harriet, M. Thompson of Wilmington, North Carolina, Carrie M. Delaney of Fairmont, North Carolina, Linda M. Johnson of Wilmington, North Carolina, sister-in-law Ann Mishoe. As well as a host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Lloyd Mishoe is preceded in death by his wife Doris Aiken Mishoe, son, Jimmy Aiken, daughter Sarah Aiken Ritter, three brothers Charles Mishoe, Leon Johnson and Henry Mishoe, Sr., his loving sisters Margaret M. Lofton and sister-in- law, Sarah B. Mishoe. Although he is gone, Lloyd "Red" Mishoe will never be forgotten. His bright light and love will forever live on in our hearts.
