Lizzetta Regina Adams, was born February 1, 1952, in Wilmington NC, to the late Catherine Grantham and Joseph Walters. She was a woman whose presence could fill any room whether through her laughter, her stories, or her unforgettable voice. Liz peacefully departed this walk of life on Sunday, June 21, 2026, surrounded by love. A proud graduate of New Hanover High School’s Class of 1970, she lived a life rich in connection, music, and devotion to family. She was married to the late Lucious Dickey for 12 years, sharing two children. Lizzetta then remarried to the late Gregory Adams, Sr. sharing one child. In her youth, she’d find her true passion on stage as a phenomenal singer, performing with the Myrtle Beach Workshop Band alongside family and friends, captivating audiences all across South Carolina. With a remarkable voice that carried and pierced the soul, she truly left memories that lasted a lifetime. To know Lizzetta was to know joy. She never met a stranger, and family often joked that a quick trip to the corner store could turn into an eight-hour shift of heartfelt conversations. Her uncles lovingly nicknamed her “Motor Mouth,” a title she wore proudly as someone who could talk to anyone, anywhere, about anything. Her charisma, humor, and warmth made her beloved throughout the Campbell Street Community and beyond. She dedicated her life to loving her family as fun, vibrant grandmother who helped shape the childhoods of her grandchildren with laughter, music, and endless stories. Her confidence, her charm, and her ability to make everyone feel seen will forever be cherished. She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine “MeMe” Grantham, her son, Gregory Allan Adams, and her granddaughter, Shayla Alexandria Everett. Lizzetta leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Lisa Bell of Jacksonville, NC; her son, Leonard Dickey (Neneth) of Wilmington, NC; her grandchildren: Shacoya Everett, Shalena Everett (Sebri), Sharonda Everett, Kobe Dickey, Kiara Dickey, Kendall Dickey, Angelique, Jassy, Trequan Crews (Jasmine), and Shanell Adams; her cousin, Michael Grantham (Shirl) of Wilmington, NC; her best friend, Patricia Ward Lewis of Raleigh, NC; her special friend, Georgia Crumby; and a host of loving great-grandchildren, extended family, friends, and the forever cherished Campbell Street community. Lizzetta lived, laughed, and loved with her whole heart; her legacy will continue to echo in the lives of all who knew her.
