Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Shoulders Branch Missionary Baptist Church, 4404 Holly Shelter Rd, Castle Hayne, NC. Burial will follow in the Summerville Church Cemetery, Leland, NC. Visitation is from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Linward Balloon departed this life on Monday, January 20, 2025. He was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Irene Balloon. Linward was a devoted member of Shoulders Branch Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and worked effortlessly as an Usher. He was also a member of the Male Choir. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, and they shared a monthly "Man Time" outing where he bonded with his grandson. He loved going to the movies with his daughter Lead, when she was a little girl. He was an avid sports fan and loved playing his bass guitar. He enjoyed his work with Daniels Tours and loved driving the vans and helping people. Linward was one of thirteen children and is survived by his daughter Lead Marie Robinson, three sisters: Ethel Williams (Leroy} and Nancy Weston (George} of Leland, NC, and Rev. Hazel Scrivner (Ivory), Parkton, NC. He leaves his sisters-in-law Marie Balloon (Bob Henry), Beverly Balloon (Hayward) and Mary Lee Balloon (Eugene). Seven of his siblings preceded him in death, Lou Etta Herring, Alice McKnight, Eula Mae Washington, Bob Henry Balloon, Alfred Balloon, Eugene Balloon and Haywood Balloon. He Leaves to cherish his memory, three grandchildren: DaVon Marquis Robinson, De'Meir Montell Robinson and Dayona Marie Robinson and four great-grandchildren all of Leland, NC. Linward also leaves a special friend Ms. Jackie Bean of Wilmington, NC.
