Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Mt Olive AME Church. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
"Rev. Lewis Edward Grady, Jr., 89 years old of Apex, North Carolina made his entrance to the upper room after a lengthy and courageous health battle. Lewis E. Grady, Jr. was born on August 6th, 1934, to Rev. Lewis E. Grady, Sr. and Katie Bell Tate Grady in Castle Hayne, North Carolina. Lewis E. Grady, Jr. was the 4th child and only son of Rev. Lewis E. Grady, Sr. and Katie Bell Tate Grady. After graduating from Williston High School in 1952, he served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. It was during this time that he met the love of his life Laura Lee Smith while she was attending North Carolina Central University. Lewis and Laura whom he affectionately called "Laalee" married August 29th, 1959, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Rev. Lewis Edward Grady, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Lewis Edward, Sr. and Katie Bell Tate Grady and his sisters, Berthene, Lois, Earlene, Thelma and Lee. Rev. Grady is survived by his wife of 65 years Laura Lee Smith Grady (Apex, North Carolina) and his 5 children Teri Yolanda Grady Ford (Kevin) of North Carolina, Lewis Edward Grady, III (Katherine) of Michigan, Sharon Alicia Grady of North Carolina, Mark Luther Grady of Texas and LaToya Irene Grady Shaw (Cedrick) of New York. And 11 grandchildren Tia, Laura, Lauren, Kristen, MacKenzie, P.J, K.J, Sergei, Isaiah, Zoie and Roman. And 4 Great grandchildren Julius, Laila, Zachary and Kennedy.
Rev. Grady is also survived by his uncle Charles Tate and his two sisters Jacquelyn Grady Benton and Dr. Sandra Grady Yates. In addition, he also leaves behind many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews and friends from everywhere."
