Brother Lawrence David Brown, Sr. was born on September 29, 1942, in Leland, North Carolina, to the late Dave Brown and Pauline Bryant Brown. He peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, November 14, 2025. He graduated from Lincoln High School and accepted Christ at an early age. Throughout his life, he was a faithful witness to God's goodness and grace. He served diligently as a Trustee for 15 years at his former church, Greater Love Chapel Church of God in Christ in Wilmington, NC. Later In life, he united with New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, where he joyfully sang with the Men's Choir until his health no longer allowed. His love for both his family and his church family was unwavering and will forever be remembered. On January 13, 2000, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Barbara Ann Sullivan, who remained his devoted wife. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Brown, and his brother, Harry Lee McCoy. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Barbara Ann Sullivan Brown; five sons, Albert Lee (Renee) of Leland, NC, Larry Eugene of Charlotte, NC, Lawrence David, Jr. (Trina) of Wilmington, NC, Lavance of Burgaw, NC, and Anthony Maurice (Debra) of Wilmington, NC; one daughter, Deitra Diane Brown Brimley (Earl) of Bolivia, NC; and a bonus daughter, Michelle Sullivan of Durham, NC. He also leaves behind two grandchildren he lovingly raised, David Robinson and Alyssa Brown, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Marie Gibson of Hopewell, VA; Shirley Harrison (James) of Wilmington, NC; and Dorothy Ann Jefferson of Leland, NC; one brother, Cornelius Brown (Linda) of Plainfield, NJ; one sister-in-law, Geneva McCoy of Delaware; one bother-in-law, Joseph Singleton of Wilmington, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; a special friend, Fontella Whitaker of Wilmington, NC; and three godchildren, Zaniyah Hooper, Zamar Hooper, and Zayla Hooper.
