Service will be 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Shaw Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Marsh Branch Church Cemetery, Winnabow, NC. In cherished remembrance of Mr. Larry Abdus Saboor, a luminary of faith and compassion, whose serene departure graced us on April 20, 2024. His life's narrative, a tale of resilience and benevolence, radiated an enduring light upon his family, comrades, and community alike. April 18, 1943, in Brunswick County, NC, Larry was born into a family of faith, where the crucible of hard work, generosity, and style became his hallmark. Throughout his life's journey, he embodied these virtues while painting smiles upon those he touched. He graduated from Brunswick County Training School in 1961, and moved to Philadelphia PA. He became and as a longshoreman like his father for several years. After being injured and placed on permanent disability, he became an entrepreneur and construction manager. Larry grew into a loving friend, brother, father, grandfather for so many. He held his grandchildren as heavenly treasures, their laughter echoing through the corridors of his heart. He shared stories with everyone and anyone about his children and grandchildren as he was proud of them all. Imbued with an unwavering devotion to his faith, Larry found strength in the sanctuary of prayer and devotion to Allah. His was not merely a creed but a guide for his every step, igniting the hearts of others to pursue their own spiritual ascension of righteousness. Beyond the realm of spiritual devotion, Larry was a philanthropist, navigating the currents of community service and entrepreneurial endeavors with boundless passion. Though Larry has embarked on his celestial journey, his legacy of love, empathy, and faith shall eternally be within our collective memories. May his spirit find peace, and may his memory be an inspiration for all. Larry was preceded in death by his mother Mary and father Leroy Parker, Sr., his sisters Estelle Halstead and Eartha Pinckney, his brothers Therman Parker and Nathaniel Parker, his daughter Lisa Parker, his first wife Alice and his second wife Iris Saboor. He is also survived by his sisters, Katie Parker and Dr. Joyce Hewitt and his brothers, Leroy Parker, Jr. (Carolyn), Carl Parker (Ann), along with his daughter Pammy Carter and sons, Ronald Parker (Wilma), Larry Parker, Jr. (Laury), Vincent Parker, and Dr. Reginald Parker (Robin). His adoring grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends shall continue to honor his legacy, kindling the flame of compassion in his absence.
