Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at St. John AME Church, Wrightsboro Community. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
Kenneth Eugene Ballard was born on September 17, 1957, in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Evangeline James Bryant and Cain Ballard. He departed this life on November 20, 2024, at home surrounded by the love of his daughter Shavonne with whom he lived. Kenny was educated in the New Hanover County School system, graduating from New Hanover High School in 1975. He attended St. John A.M.E. Church in the Wrightsboro Community where he was a member. Kenny worked at General Electric (GE) in the early 1980's after leaving GE, he moved to Charlotte, NC and worked at the Marriott until his illness and resigned in the year 2008. He was a musician and loved playing his bass guitar with his many friends in the Revolution Band in 1978. Other than his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Ballard, brother Pearlie Johnson and sister, Valerie Ballard. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind his children, son, Kenya Hill (wife, Tikia), daughter, Shavonne Hill, son Victor Crews and daughter Pamela Crews; grandchildren, Tinaya Hill, Troy Salter, Shamiya Hill, Shanon, Corneil, Victavia, Seven, Wesley, and Khayree Crews; multiple greatgrandchildren; brothers, Reginald Ballard, (wife, Angela), Gregory Ballard, Darryl Ballard (wife Ernestine); sisters, Kimberly Ballard and Debra Simpson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Kenny comes from a very close-knit family, and he will be missed. We know, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and now he is at peace in the arms of God!
