Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 4, 2023, at John H. Shaw's Son Funeral Home.  Visitation will be prior to the service. Karen Laverne Johnson Lyde 59 of Wilmington, NC, passed away on August 28, 2023.  Karen was born on October 29, 1963, to the late Wilbur Johnson, Sr., and Nellie B. Johnson, of Wilmington, NC.  Karen was preceded in death by her sister Faye Stukes.  Karen received her formal education in the New Hanover County school system.  Her memories will always be cherished by her four children; Lashawna R. (Joseph) Johnson, Currie, NC, Tyshaune Johnson, Oscar (Donna) Williams, and Demeatric Williams all of Wilmington, NC.  Fourteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.  Her siblings; sister Julia (Rudy) Graham Florence, SC, Nadine Johnson Miami, FL., Mary Stukes Wilmington, NC, brothers; Leroy Johnson, Sr., and Wilbur Billy (Brenda) Johnson, Jr., all of Wilmington, NC.  One aunt Viola Hawkins, Florence, SC, husband Eric Lyde Wilmington, NC.  Special nieces Shantee R. Johnson, Greensboro, NC, Tameka L. Johnson, Wilmington, NC.  Special children, Shamon, Dejuan, Whitney, Ashanti Brown, all of Wilmington. NC.  Special sister/friend, Paula Corbin Davis of VA.  Special cousins, Larry and Harry Brown.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
