Funeral service for Julius Edward Brown aka "Juice" will be 1:00 P.M. on Saturday January 25, 2025, at Love Faithfully Ministries, 171 Old Fayetteville Rd. Leland, NC 28451. Burial will follow in the Northwest Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 5- 7:00 P.M. at Love Faithfully Ministries.
Julius Edward Brown, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend departed this life on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at his home in Northwest. He was the 4th oldest child born to the late James and Annie Lou Brown in Leland, NC. Julius was affectionately known to many as "Juice", "Juice Man", and "Newk". To his children and grandchildren, he was "Pops, and "Turkey". Julius graduated in 1969 from the predominantly black Lincoln High School as the last class before schools were integrated. After graduating he went to work at DuPont and on September 28, 1971, he was drafted into the US Navy. He served active duty until September 20, 1973. Upon returning to DuPont, he joined the US Navy reserve on October 26, 1976, and received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy on Oct 21, 1977. Julius then joined the US Army Reserve 993rd Transportation Unit where he remained until he retired on the 1st day of March 2011. While serving in the US Navy and US Army, Julius received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon. Julius worked for DuPont for over 30 years. Doing this time, he attended Southeastern Community College having completed in a satisfactory manner the studies required for the Associate in Arts Degree on the 26th day of February 1981. On the 21st day of August 1992 he received his Diploma in Industrial Maintenance from Brunswick Community College, and he received from the United States Department of Labor a completion of apprenticeship certificate that was awarded to him in the trade of Maintenance Mechanic under the sponsorship of E.I. DuPont De Nemours Company, Inc., on August 1993. Julius was a jubilant person who never met a stranger. Always willing to lend a helping hand to others. His favorite saying was do you need any "Butter" meaning money. He was always the life of the party, so well-liked by many that knew him. Julius's memories will forever be cherished by; daughters, Akiea Wilson (Tim), Latoya Brown, Dawn Brown; son, Perry Rogers (Lashawnda); grandchildren, Zaria Swindell, Amira Juliana Lee, Riley Leach, Gerni London, Messiah Dent, Iyanna, Tristin, Bryonna; brothers, Curtis Brown, Oliver Brown, Sr. (Kim), Jerry Brown (Gail), Eric Brown, Sr. (Janice), Gene Brown (Saundra), Jerry Jones (Theresa), Willie Gibbs (Shirley); sisters, Marzella McKoy (Clarence, Sr.), Beverly Brown, Alcora Brown, Rita Brown-Jackson (Rodney); best friends, James Knox, Joe Bryant, Allen Hall, Michael Jackson, Sr., Otis Mapson, Sr., "October Bash Crew"; longtime friend, Estella Joyner; personal barber, Napoleon "Sleepy" Shaw. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
