Obituary

A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 3, 2024, at St. James AME Zion Church, Leland, NC.  Visitation will be from 5-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 2, 2024, at the funeral home.

Johnny McDonald departed this life on December 30, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Center in Wilmington, NC. He was born on February 3, 1956, to the late Claudie Persche' and Torrice Bullard. Johnny was educated in the New Hanover County school system. He was united in Holy matrimony to Georgianna Fulton. To this union one child was born Me' Lina Ja'Net Fulton who preceded him in death in 2023. Johnny was a member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church of Leland, NC. He was a very gifted musician and one of the best bass guitar players in the surrounding areas. He loved the Lord, and he loved to praise him through his God-given talent, playing the guitar. He was a member of the Singing Stars of Hampstead, NC and also the Sensational Gospel Traveleers of Bolton, NC. Johnny was also a volunteer with the Food Bank sponsored by St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church. Johnny leaves to cherish memories his wife Georgianna Fulton of Wilmington, NC; six children, Tarya Johnson (Bryant), Lawrenceville, Ga; LaTosha Barnhill-Pitts (Darrick), Atlanta, GA; Paul Addison (Toméka) -Wilmington, NC, Johnny Barnhill (Lasheba) Powder Springs, Ga; Donnell Jackson (Dawn) Norfolk, VA, and Mercedes Fulton, Wilmington, NC; Step-father Thomas Bullard of Leland, NC; one sister Angela Persche'; one aunt, Vonzenia Ross, Seabreeze, NC; Nineteen grandchildren: Darius, Kuron, Arayah, Mikeba, Taishara, Z'Nye, Darrick, DeAaron, Dylan, Dakota, Abigail, Kyle, Paul, Briana, Anshonee, Darien, Paulette, Taj and Kiera. Twelve great grandchildren, Ahmir, Senphanie, Zakai, Azami, Chi and Khalae, Madison, Chance, Santiago, Millie, Sage, and Brycen.  Johnny also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
