Obituary

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Friday, November 15, 2024, at A.K. Macagna Funeral Home, 495 Anderson Avenue, Cliffside Park, NJ, followed by a Prayer Service at 1:00 PM.  The Entombment will follow the prayer service at 1:45 PM at the Fairview Mausoleum in Fairview, NJ.

John was a hard-working family man with a remarkably calming presence, open mind, and strong-willed spirit. He found great peace in working with his hands in the garden and never missing a chance to learn something new. He had a gift for finding important life lessons in ordinary moments, always ready to share his wisdom with those around him, especially his grandchildren. John was predeceased by his father, John D McLean; his sisters, Mary E. McLean Bradley and Magnolia D McLean Moss (Marvin); his, brother, James A. McLean (Diane), and sister-in-law, Theresa Wallace. John was the devoted husband of Genevieve McLean; a loving father to Thaddeus Jamal, Danielle (Emmanuel) and Sabrina (Ivan); adored "Pop Pop" to Kayla, Emma, Noah, Naomi and Keanu.  John is survived by; his mother, Magnolia McLean; his brothers, Freddie E McLean (Ruthie) and Carl McLean (Sonya); sisters, Helen Jackson (Josh) and Annie Young (James), and many nieces, nephews and friends who adored him and will miss him deeply. John had a way of staying grounded no matter what challenges awaited him, a quality his siblings, children and grandchildren will forever cherish. He will be deeply missed.
