Funeral service will be 11:00 AM. Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Warner Temple AME Zion Church. Visitation is from 6-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
A TIME TO BE BORN AND A TIME TO DIE: Joan Beatty Davis, daughter of Edith Beatty, was born on February 23, 1951, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She entered into a peaceful rest on September 1, 2025, at her residence. Joan is preceded in death by her grandson, Bryan Davis and a nephew, Donnell Lamar "Mousey" Beatty. A TIME TO LIVE: Joan was raised in the R.R. Taylor Homes. She attended Williston Senior High School and graduated from New Hanover High School in 1969. After graduation she moved to New York. Joan later returned to Wilmington, North Carolina. She worked at Bojangles's in a managerial position for many years and later Burger King. Joan later moved on and worked in the school system at DC Virgo in the cafeteria. A highlight of Joan's life was when she attended the "Legacy Graduation Celebration" marching at Williston Senior High School, a dream fulfilled! Joan was a dedicated member of the Warner Temple AME Zion Church. Joan loved the Lord and attended church until her health began to decline. LEFT TO CHERISH HER MEMORIES ARE: Her son, Trever Davis of Durham, NC; daughter, Michelle Davis of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Taimon Davis and Demon Faison; great-grandchild, Krus Davis; mother, Edith Beatty; sister, Marie Beatty; brothers, James Beatty and Reginald Beatty; sisters-in law, Sheila Green and Pam Green; two aunts, Ida King, and Johnny Lee King; nieces, Takis Hansley and Ashley Beatty; nephews, Saniiya Charles, James Beatty, Jr., Maurice Beatty, and Zymir Beatty; special cousins, Clyde Beatty, Jr., Wayne Beatty, Caroline Beatty Dumus and Sarah Dumus, special cousins, Jimmy King, Cassandra King, Wayne King, Cedric King, Margaret King and Kertice King; a host of other family members and friends, including Larry Davis of New York, Brenda Logan Green, Beverly Johnson Hedgebeth, and Delores Kaham, all of Wilmington, NC, Brenda McDuffie of Connecticut, Sandra Byrd Gentry of Washington, DC and Thelma Jacobs Gittens of Massachusetts and the Jacobs Family of Wilmington, NC.
