Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at St. James AME Church, Rockhill Community. Burial will follow in the John Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:30-8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. Jerald W. Davis, cherished son of the late Rosa Lee Davis, peacefully passed away on April 30, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, warmth, and passion. Born on September 9, 1948, Jerald's journey through life was marked by profound achievements and cherished moments. Educated in the New Hanover County School System, Jerald's academic journey culminated in his graduation from New Hanover High School in 1969, a milestone that laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Embarking on a career dedicated to service, Jerald joined the ranks of the Wilmington Police Department upon his graduation. For four years, he served his community with unwavering commitment and integrity. Transitioning from law enforcement, Jerald embarked on a new chapter at General Electric, where his steadfast dedication and work ethic shone brightly. The Word tells us in Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters". For 37 years, he contributed his talents and passion to the company until his retirement. An insatiable thirst for knowledge drove Jerald to further his education at Cape Fear Community College, where he earned several certifications. Jerald's zest for life extended far beyond the confines of the workplace. A seasoned traveler, he delighted in exploring the world, with favorite destinations including the picturesque landscapes of Belize, the vibrant streets of Cozumel, and the rich history of London. In addition to his adventures, Jerald had a deep love for sports. He was an avid enthusiast of tennis, baseball, and boxing, finding joy and camaraderie in each game. Jerald was a member of The Wilmington Boxing Club. Jerald was also a lifetime member of The Wilmington Sportsman Club. In the hearts of those who knew him, Jerald will forever be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering spirit, and his genuine love for life. Though he may have left this world, his legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him. He leaves to cherish his memories; three sons, Terrence Robinson of Los Angeles, CA, Courtney Hicks of Rocky Point, NC and Lavar Clark of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Michelle Galloway; three grandchildren; a devoted sister, Reba Hobbs of the home; aunts, Audrey Collins (John) of St. Mary's, GA, Vivian Smith of Wilmington, NC, Gwendolyn Stringfield of Wilmington, NC, Gennie Davis of Castle Hayne, NC; a special aunt, Arlene Grady of Castle Hayne, NC; uncles, Frederick Davis (Patricia) of Castle Hayne, NC, Thomas Davis (Mary) of Yakima, WA; special friends, Jerry Williams, Willie Holiday, and Bryan Hankins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
