FACE COVERINGS ARE STILL REQUIRED TO ENTER THE FUNERAL HOME!!!!!!

Funeral service will be 3:30 P.M. on Saturday. November 11, 2023, at Shaw Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service on Saturday.  Jeffery Jerod Walker, son of the late Richard E. Walker, Jr., and Ethel Bernice Colvin, was born on July 16, 1960, in Wilmington, North Carolina.  He was the youngest of their eight children.  Jeffery was educated in the New Hanover County School System and graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in 1978.  Thereafter, he attended Winston Salem State University (WSSU) on scholarship, where he played basketball.  Upon leaving WSSU, Jeffery was employed by Atlantic Appliances Distributors, Greentree Apartments Maintenance and Gaines Masonry, Incorporated.  Jeffery was a "Jack of All Trades", he could fix your car, lay your flooring, paint your house, and a host of other tasks. Jeffery was known for having a big heart; he was willing to catch a ride, bike, or walk to get to whomever was in need of his assistance.  Well known for speaking his mind, you could not convince Jeffery that his way wasn't the only way for something to be done. Nonetheless, to genuinely know and befriend Jeffery was to, in return, have a friend for life.  While he truly loved his friends, family and children, the light of his world was his grandchildren!  There was nothing in this world that he would not do for them.  Jeffery transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, November 5, 2023.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his grandson- JaVaughn Bradshaw, and his stepfather, John Colvin.  His memory will forever live on in the lives of his family and friends.  Jeffery is survived by his daughter; Tikia "Meka" N. Johnson (Ebony);  his sons, Jeremy U. Bradshaw (Gloria), and Tory T. Walker; grandchildren, Aniyah Smith, Tori Walker, Tanaya Walker, Caleb Weeks, Bryonna Bradshaw, Khyree Johnson, Tory'n Walker, Bryce Weeks, and Grace Weeks; siblings, Edward I. Walker, Darlene W. Lightfoot (James) , Linda W. Bullion (Fred) , Mendell W. Smith, Richard E. Walker, III (Yvonne) , Kojo Nantambu (Linda) , Danita W. Gaines (Albert) , L. Fay Simms (Rick), and Cassandra I. Turner, the mothers of his children; Tanya Johnson and Sarah Bradshaw; many loving nieces and nephews; his good friends/brothers from childhood: Georgie, Frank, Anthony "Ant" , and Troy; 12th and Dawson Street " Under the Tree" family; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
